The etching process

1/30/14

The framework has been laid down.

I have thickened the lines, rounded the intersections.

I have started outlining the framework.  I am not sure at this point the orientation of the piece.

At this point I need to step back and absorb before I take a next step.

The color process.

1/29/14

Photograph printed on canvas, the starting point.

Coated with Daler-Rowney FW "Process Yellow" acrylic artists ink.

Caran D'Ache "Neocolor II" water-soluble wax pastels worked into the canvas with soft cloth and water.

Color fine-tuned with Stabilo "Woody" multi-talented pencils.

Here begins the etching process.  I have laid down the basic shapes.  I am unsure what will happen next.

I have carved the basic skeleton into the canvas using #11 Xacto blade.  This is the start of the etching process.

Let the magic begin.

The color has been laid, the framework is in place.  Time to get scratchin'.

This is the image that will face forward, gallery wrapped on 13.5" x 17.5" x 1.5" stretcher bars.

maintaining the flow

1/7/14

To keep the creative energy flowing while I prepare a new series of prints to work atop, I am turning my attention to a small scrap of canvas.   'Tis just a fun little exercise.
